Acoustic Image have been making transparent amps for acoustic instruments for quite some years now and this are actually their 4th generation of amps and we are thrilled to see they are the best ever.
Small and lightweight are two words that come immediately to mind when you say Acoustic Image. That's one of the reasons why thousands of upright bass players in the world use them. It sounds just as good for upright or electric bass. In this new series of amps the preamps have been improved with even better sound, more features. Also there's more power from the amp section and the cabinets are far more efficient. To sum up: they are better than ever.
This is the Contra S4 Combo and it features a 300W power section that feeds a downfiring 10" speaker and a front firing 5" in a small and ultralightweight cabinet.
The Hi-Z input has been made to take the ultra high impedance from piezo pickups so the first thing you notice when you use it is that the sound is far more natural and deep than in most other bass amps out there, even those 2-3 times larger and heavier. Cool!
At the preamp section you get 4 band EQ and adjustable low cut to tame feedback and rumble. There's also FX loop, Mute and an excellent sounding professional DI out.
On its own this little amp is quite surprising. You just hear your bass, only louder. If you play small to medium sized venues and don't need a lot of power this is just the perfect portable professional amp. If you play in a loud band then you might consider other models from Acoustic Image.
