After much research into a smaller body guitar shape, the Legacy Concertina is our pride and joy. It sparkles with surprising sound. With 12-frets to the body, the action begs to be played with enthusiasm. Our Sound Optimization® process enables us to sand our densest hard wood, cocobolo, to a thinness that delivers amazing power and depth. A Guitar to Treasure for Decades

The Breedlove Legacy Concertina represents the pinnacle of Breedlove’s guitar-building expertise. This acoustic-electric guitar features heirloom-quality tonewoods. The solid Adirondack spruce top pairs perfectly with the guitar's solid cocobolo back and sides. This compelling tonewood combination offers up a sprightly high end, robust low end, and excellent note separation at high volumes. The slim neck profile and satin finish facilitate an effortless playing experience; when you take it out of the case for the first time, you’ll be delighted by how easily the neck sits in your hand. If you choose to take it onstage with you, the LR Baggs Anthem electronics will produce a highly realistic plugged-in tone. Made from 100% sustainably sourced tonewoods in Bend, Oregon, the Breedlove Legacy Concertina will impress you — and your playing audience — for years to come.

Heirloom-quality tonewoods

The Breedlove Legacy series is crafted with the finest tonewoods Breedlove has to offer. The Legacy Concertina CE has a body made with solid cocobolo back and sides. Tonally, cocobolo falls somewhere between koa and rosewood. It has the treble vigor of koa combined with a strong, but well-balanced bass response akin to rosewood. For enhanced projection and nuance, Breedlove outfitted the guitar with an Adirondack spruce top. Adirondack spruce has an unbelievable amount of headroom and a high harmonic content. No matter how hard you strum, it won't lose its clarity and definition. With its sustainably sourced, non-clear-cut tonewoods, the Legacy Concertina is a guitar that sounds just as good as it looks. And when you hit the stage, the Legacy Concertina's LR Baggs Anthem electronics will give you a prominent plugged-in tone. When you open the case for the first time, you’ll get a Guitar Portrait that calls out your guitar’s specifics, from its weight and thickness to where the tonewoods were sourced.

Hand-voiced for uncompromising performance

Ask any guitar player what sets one guitar apart from the other, and they’ll probably say one word: performance. With Breedlove, you’ll experience a level of performance and sonic consistency that are hard to find anywhere else. How do they accomplish such a feat? By employing their state-of-the-art Sound Optimization process and hand-voicing for each guitar they build in Bend, Oregon. It all begins with sanding each tonewood until it reaches a weight that brings out the best possible sound (most builders sand to a uniform thickness). After the braces are attached, highly skilled luthiers use soft felt mallets, microphones, and specialized computer software to analyze the frequency response of the top and back. From here, the same luthier voices the bracing by hand, targeting specific frequencies along the way.

By combining technological innovation with the art and craft of lutherie, Breedlove ensures that each one of their instruments performs at its full potential. They fully believe in their Sound Optimization process. In fact, no instrument will leave their factory until it reaches its peak performance, even if that means they carve on the bracing through the soundhole. And for you, the player, it means that your Breedlove will come alive in your hands the second you play your first note. From the quietest fingerpicking to the loudest flatpicking, you get access to an incredible dynamic range — all without losing definition and note separation. Strum your final chord, and the guitar will reward you with long, rich sustain. If you’re not entirely sold yet, you will be when you pick it up.

The Breedlove Tonewood Certification Program

Part of being a responsible company is knowing where your stock comes from and documenting it properly. That’s why Breedlove has created their revolutionary Tonewood Certification Program. Through extensive documentation and cooperation with local authorities and mill workers, Breedlove can tell you exactly where the wood on your guitar grew and how it was harvested. That’s just another way Breedlove shows their eco-conscious commitment.

Breedlove: guitars you can feel good about

From the company's beginning in 1990, Breedlove has focused a lot of their efforts on reducing their impact on the planet without compromising the quality of their instruments. Their radical approach to sustainability led them to create their Tonewood Certification Program and commit to visit each location where their timber is harvested to ensure that their sustainability standards are met. The company has introduced player-centered innovations, including top-loading bridges, custom voicings, and unique neck profiles. From the Discovery to the Legacy, each and every Breedlove is made with an uncompromising dedication to quality sound, flawless workmanship, and environmental sustainability. Buying a Breedlove is much more than purchasing a top-notch acoustic guitar — it’s buying a guitar that you can feel good about.
