Myrtlewood, while native to Oregon’s Pacific coast, might just be the most ‘exotic’ of all tonewoods, capturing the deep bass of rosewood, the pure warmth of mahogany and the sweet, glassy treble of maple in one exquisite, visually enchanting package enhanced by the gloss finish. This sustainable acoustic-electric is much more than just a travel guitar.
“Anyone could make a travel-size guitar,” said Breedlove Wood Management & Product Development Manager Angela Christensen. “Our goal was to give the Companion an even more captivating voice while maintaining its size, shape, and overall feel. We also wanted it to handle any playing style you throw at it.”

Sustainable & Clear Cut Free
- Made from sustainably-sourced exotic and native tonewoods. No clear-cut trees are used in these instruments. Breedlove uses salvaged and individually harvested timber and has deep relationships with responsible suppliers around the globe. As we move towards sustainability across all lines, owner Tom Bedell has visited 15 countries to discover exactly where the wood comes from, how it is selected and harvested, and how this affects the wildlife, the community, the forest and the planet.
Magnificent all-myrtlewood body
- Your new Oregon Companion CE features an all-myrtlewood body. Myrtlewood is a hardwood that only grows in the Pacific Northwest. It’s a tonewood known for its widely-varied grain patterns and stunning figure. Tonally, myrtlewood delivers a magical midrange with deep lows and a subtle treble response. When you pair myrtlewood with the maple neck, that midrange only gets more pronounced. Be prepared, though. Once you play it, the Oregon Companion CE’s thrilling tone will have you hooked.
Sustainably sourced, traceable tonewoods
- As a global guitar brand, they’ve taken huge strides to reduce their environmental impact and protect the natural world they cherish with the Tonewood Certification Program. Breedlove works closely with local authorities and mill workers to harvest and document each tonewood they use. The Tonewood Certification Program’s documentation is so thorough that they can tell you exactly where the wood on your guitar grew and how it ended up at Breedlove.
