The Artwood Vintage series now showcases another vintage element by applying an "aging" process to the tonewood : "Thermo Aged™" tone wood, made by a special drying process at a high temperature which is commonly known as "baking" or "torrefaction.

The Ibanez AVD9 dreadnought acoustic guitar is part of the Artwood Vintage Series, inspired by the roots of American music. This series respects the rich tradition of the acoustic guitar while adding modern interpretations in their search for the ultimate in guitar tone. One of the modern interpretations is the Thermo Aged Technology. 

The AVD9 has a solid Sitka spruce top with Thermo Aged processing. A traditional solid top guitar produces a good quality tone, balance and volume, but when a top is treated with Thermo Aged Technology, the tonewood becomes harder, lighter and more stable, and helps the instrument produce tonal characteristics similar to those of cherished vintage instruments. 

Other features include: Mahogany back and sides, 18-1 open gear tuners with Butterbean knobs, gloss finish body and satin finished neck for effortless chording, and rosewood bridge and fingerboard.
