Because Orange developed the head and cabinet side-by-side in order to replicate the target tone: that of Jim's Rockerverb 100 amp lead channel. The #4 Jim Root PPC212 cab sports a closed-back design incorporating a pair of Orange special-design 12" speakers. If you want to move some air onstage, then the closed-back cabinet is the gold standard. For full, punchy tone, with tight low end - Jim Root's signature sound - the PPC212 cabinet (mated to the Jim Root Terror head) is the way to go.
