Exotic foundations and adaptable sound
Luthiers at Schecter don’t take the “Exotic Basses” series name lightly, and this Model-T 4’s tonewood assembly boasts a formidable sonic foundation. Its black limba body anchors its aural profile with harmonically rich tones that are balanced yet mid-focused, not unlike mahogany, though with a dash of greater resonance. A roasted maple neck introduces warmth and brightness throughout every register, boasting tight basses, ample projection, and excellent note-separation. The ebony fingerboard introduces serious sustain, feeling near-endless in its resolve, bolstering voicing with unmatched articulation and immense presence. Together, these tonewoods mean your bass tones are booming, clear, and flexible, perfect for numerous styles with plenty of room to make it your own.
Monster tones, courtesy of Schecter
In order to bring this indelible tonal triumvirate to life, Schecter’s deployed their house-made MonsterTone P- and J-style pickups for this dual-single-coil setup. A MonsterTone-P resides in the neck position, utilizing a Teflon-coated wire harness design with Ceramic 8 magnets in a split configuration. At the bridge, a MonsterTone-J boasts the same magnets with a 3-conductor, Teflon-coated wire harness and a tapped-design array. Per-pickup volume controls and a master tone knob grant you detailed sound-crafting opportunities with exacting precision.
Speed, comfort, and control
Opting for a bolt-on, roasted maple neck wasn’t purely for the sonic benefit of this Model-T 4. Its increased dimensional stability makes it far more resilient to twisting and warping, making this bass ideal for gigging and touring musicians, especially if you’re traveling through changing climate conditions. A Thin “C” neck profile is paired with a 12-inch fingerboard radius to balance lighting speed with flexible comfort, ensuring players of countless styles will be right at home. The Model-T 4’s cutaways and 34-inch scale provide excellent access to the full spectrum of its 21-fret setup, while a Graph Tech XL Black TUSQ nut and string-through Schecter Custom bass bridge ensure your tones are buzz-free, in tune, and ready to roll.
