Solid sonic sources
Since 1995, Tori Ruffin has played alongside Morris Day and The Time, and the ensuing decades have seen him writing, recording, and performing with the likes of Mick Jagger, Lenny Kravitz, Michael Jackson, Prince, and Mariah Carey, as well as working on multiple late-night and prime-time TV spots. Such a diverse catalog necessitated a signature guitar with the right mix of versatility and character, and Schecter’s luthiers knew precisely what was needed. Alder forms the sonic foundation of the Freak Juice, a tonewood prized for its transparent yet snappy tones, with full-spectrum sustain, a modest boost to upper mids, and a powerful high end that cuts through mixes without bordering on harsh. The neck and fingerboard each uses roasted hard-rock maple, supplying players with tight lows, articulate voicing, and an unmatched warmth throughout every register.

US-made pickups for electrifying shades of sound
To bring the Freak Juice’s formidable foundation to life, Schecter and Tori Ruffin settled on an uncommon yet imminently flexible approach to tone crafting. An H/S/H configuration deploys three electrifying Schecter USA pickups that span countless degrees of sound. A Pasadena Plus humbucker occupies the bridge position, while the complementary Pasadena Classic humbucker sits at the neck. A Nick Johnston Atomic-series single-coil pickup is nestled between the two. Each pickup is outfitted with Alnico V magnets, joined by a 5-way blade switch that supplies multitudes of sound shaping possibilities, from cool, clear, and smoldering to high-octane, scorching, and shred-worthy. For further sonic refining, an eloquent pairing of Volume and Tone master knobs strike the optimal balance of detailed control without getting in your way, and the Tone knob’s push-pull capabilities provide the extra shade of sonic sculpting that the most-discerning guitarists will appreciate.

Vintage character and modern playability collide
When it comes to playability, the Freak Juice has all the fixings to quench any tone-chaser’s thirst for comfort, control, and accessibility. The bolt-on construction complements the neck’s Vintage “C”-shaped profile, while 22 frets sprawl a 25.5-inch scale that accommodates multitudes of playstyles without sacrificing performance capabilities in as many genres’ demands. Players will appreciate the 14-inch fingerboard radius that supplements the vintage-inspired neck feel with the space needed to meet the needs of modern-minded guitarists. A Graph Tech Ivory TUSQ nut ensures your tones stay buzz-free, with strings bookended by Schecter locking tuners and a Wilkinson tremolo to grant you uncompromising expression with the peace of mind that your tuning is rock-solid.
