This baby came in on trade and the boys at TGF Chop Shop were immediately inspired by its Green Shadow Matte finish. Enter the "FMJ" S520EX. We wanted to make a full military theme (USA) guitar with some inspiration from old school pin ups, the Flying Tigers, and the movie Full Metal Jacket. This guitar has a war cliche' 'Comic Book" vibe that has no political ties and it's made only as a tribute to war moves not actual war. We all know war is bad!! Now that is out of the way, let's get to the details. As some war planes were adorned with graphics and stickers, we did the same with this guitar. Cartoon like bullet holes, "F-Bombs", Pin Up "Bombshells" Grenades, Flying Tigers 'Shark Grins" and an "Easter Egg" or two that movie fans will appreciate. This guitar did receive some light distressing here and there to add to the "war damaged" vibe. This guitar was just set up with 9-42 DR Black Beauties (Black Strings) it plays great, looks awesome and sounds killer!

The S520EX is an S series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in 2005. It was initially produced in Korea and then later in Indonesia.

The S520EX features a thin, sculpted mahogany body bolted to a maple Wizard II neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with binding and claw scratch inlays only at the twelfth fret. Components include a pair of Ibanez Infinity covered humbucking pickups and a ZR ball-bearing pivot double locking tremolo bridge with a ZPS2 tuning stabilizer.

The S470 is a related model with an added middle single coil pickup and a conventional dot inlays. The S620EXFB is a related model with a figured bubinga top.

The S520EX is the second model known by that name after a 2002 model. A special limited version of the S520EX was offered in 2007 as the S07LTD.

The S520EX was discontinued after 2009 in favor of a new series of 24-fret S models.
