This a great condition 1981 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe Mini Humbucker Model that happens to be a factory Second with the "Second" Stamped in the back not a #2. Guitar folklore has it these (second) stamped guitars were the choice picks of Gibson employees to buy themselves. This is not a proven fact, just word on the street. This guitar includes an Epiphone Hard Shell Case.
This guitar has some basic wear and tear, nothing major, all cosmetic. Some dings and light scratches here and there. Some paint chips and checking by the tuning keys on the back. Some finish very minor finish splitting can be seen going down the 3-piece neck seams on the back of the headstock, this is very typical for Les Paul's of this age. (Almost 45 Years Old)
This guitar was just set up with 10's, it plays and sounds amazing with the fretless wonder feel.
The Gibson Les Paul Deluxe first debuted in 1969/70; they first appear in the Gibson price list of September '69, though shipping figures show none shipped until 1970. Two years earlier, Gibson had relaunched the Les Paul Standard and Custom. Where the (reissued 60s) Standard had two cream-covered single-coil P90s, the Deluxe came equipped with two cream-surrounded mini-humbuckers. Structurally they were the same though: a mahogany body and neck with carved maple gold-top (although numerous other colors became available later). The Gibson Les Paul Deluxe went on to become one of Gibson's most successful models, with over 35 thousand guitars shipped in the 1970s alone.
